‘Colmcille VS Loch Ness Monster – the Battle!’ 2D Comic Art Competition 2013

The 2D Comics Festival (organised by the Verbal Group) has joined forces with The Return of Colmcille, Derry City Council, Culture Company and the Derry Journal to create an extra special art competition to celebrate the life of St. Colmcille, as will be depicted in the fantastic ‘The Return of Colmcille’ spectacular on 7th and 8th June this year.

Colmcille is the patron Saint of Derry~Londonderry and is famous for many remarkable achievements and events in his life, but one of the most exciting was his battle with the Loch Ness Monster in Scotland in 565AD! Colmcille is described as a superhero monk and may have needed powers of some kind to defeat the dreaded ‘water beast’!

We are inviting entrants to draw the scene showing Colmcille in battle with the Loch Ness Monster. We would love to see loads of different versions of the battle & different versions of Colmcille and the Monster too, scary, cute, or whatever shape or size you want - the only limit is your imagination! Colmcille could be shown in a straight up fight, or using his special powers, or maybe he found sneakier ways to defeat the beast…

Please supply your art on an A4 or A3 page. It can be in black and white or colour. All entries must be signed by your teacher.
